You should have seen the spread of food last semester. It was unreal. Desserts, Potato Bar, Soda, Water, Snacks, Grilling Meats, Soups, Sandwich Bar...the list goes on.
This semester we are looking for a few personal sponsors for a some of the food items. We've done this informally in the past, but this semester we want to take it to the next level. This does not have to be one person handling it all, it could be a life group. Please contact me if you are interested. Be sure to leave your contact information for me so I can call you with details. Here are the ideas we have...
Potato Bar - we are looking for a couple hundred potatoes, and all kinds of fixings, shredded cheese, broccoli, sliced ham, nacho cheese, sour cream, butter, bacon, salsa.
Nacho Bar - I would estimate 100 servings of chips (There should be more if we need it there), salsa, jalapenos, black beans, refried beans, ground beef, sour cream, guacamole, shredded chicken.
Ice Cream - (Great Life Group Idea) After worship we prepare about 600 servings of ice cream, sponsoring this would mean purchasing the ice cream and coming to church at 5 or 6pm to prepare the ice cream. We dish it up in cups and then put it in the freezer for consumption later.
Brats, Hot Dogs, Burgers - another good one for a life group, or a couple life groups, just to offset the cost. We are looking to serve about 500 burgers, 100 boca burgers, 200 hot dogs, 200 brats. We would need all that meat as well as condiments like katchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, onions, tomatoes, we also need charcoal. We fire up the grills at 4ish and go until we run out of food. It takes about 6 people to run the opperation.
Life Group Setup/Take Down - Set up and Take down are two of the hardest things to get recruits for, perhaps because I've not pushed that hard to get them. Usually each requires about two hours of work for 10-20 people, so two life groups would more than cover each. Set Up takes place on Sunday following the 6pm service, take down starts at 11pm on May 11th and goes until we are done (generally between 1 and 2 am.- nigh owls anyone?)
Got an idea - I'm all ears, shoot me an email.
